Community Volunteering Day at the YVR

Community Members from five different community organizations, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, work together at Yarra Glen Station!

On Saturday March 23rd, Volunteers from five different community organizations met at Yarra Glen Station. Over 250 Volunteers were present and worked tirelessly on many different tasks around the station precinct.

Despite the intermittent rain, works completed by the Volunteers include:

  • Building restoration
  • Painting of the new picket fencing
  • Sorting of railway track fastenings including sleeper plates, pandrol clips, fishplates, insulator biscuits and sleeper pads
  • General site clean up

The Yarra Valley Railway would like to thank The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their assistance in organizing such large volunteer numbers and all volunteers for their efforts and service on the day. This was the largest Community Volunteering Day to date at the Yarra Valley Railway!

“I love the railway project. In the busyness of life, it is good to find time to serve others.”  Derren Leung, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

“It was really nice to work on such a historic landmark. I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to give back to the community.”  Elder Roy (UK), The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
