The Yarra Valley Railway has welcomed the Super DERM 55RM to Healesville.

55RM was transported from Korumburra to Healesville Railway Station last Thursday, 1st August. Arriving by low loader truck, 55RM was safely transferred to the rails of Healesville Yard and shunted into the Mechanical Workshop. As per our previous Blog, 55RM requires restoration before entering Passenger Service at the YVR.

Did you see 55RM on the road? We would love to hear about it, please leave a comment below!

A large team of Volunteers were involved in the transport of 55RM. Volunteers teams were on the ground at both Korumburra and Healesville, including qualified safeworkers, representatives from the Mechanical Branch and spotters to assist load/unload the truck. Works behind the scenes have been ongoing for several months to gain all required permissions and approvals for the transport of such a large item of rolling stock. Well done to all Volunteers involved!

YVR would like to thank the State Government, VicTrack and Mornington Railway for their help and assistance.

The Mechanical Branch has already commenced initial condition assessments of 55RM, with restoration works to commence immediately. If you are interested in becoming involved, please head to our Volunteer Page to sign up!
