Over the past 12 months, the YVR Management Team has been working hard with Level Crossing Removal Project to provide surplus materials to all of the Broad Gauge Tourist and Heritage Railway (T&H) groups from the level crossing removal project at Balcombe Road, Mentone.

The YVR were the project leader, with support and help from Mornington Railway and Victorian Goldfields Railway. Volunteers from all three railways worked together on this project and produced a great win for the broader T&H Sector.

The amazing volunteer work involved around the clock (2x 12hr shifts per day) collaboration, starting 4.00pm on the Sunday, May 24 until late on Wednesday, May 27. It just goes to show what we can achieve when we work together.

The project included the retrieval of six kilometres of rail, 5,000 timber sleepers and around 1,500 concrete sleepers.

YVR wishes to thank the Southern Program Alliance Project Team for their support and help.
