The first award was to Will Farr in recognition for his ongoing volunteer commitment to the YVR. Will has been a very dedicated and valued team member of the Yarra Valley Railway for the past 5 years, spending between 3 to 5 days every week working at the railway on a variety activities from track maintenance, rolling stock maintenance and restoration. With many of the volunteers working through the week being retired, Will has been “the muscle” to get the tough jobs completed. Will has received many certificates and licenses in a variety of areas including tickets for machinery, trucks and safe workers certificates.
The Second award was a Special Recognition Award made to all Volunteers of the Yarra Valley Railway. The YVR has had over individual 500 volunteers, contributing over 70,000 volunteer hours in the last 12 months alone, working on the largest volunteer infrastructure project in Australia, which includes rebuilding 14 bridges as a part of the Regional Development Australia funding grant awarded to the Yarra Valley Railway.
Congratulations Will and to the Volunteers of the YVR!
The Yarra Valley Railway would like to thank Tony Smith MP for these awards and his ongoing support.
